Every night during sleep, roughly every 90 minutes, we enter the state of dreaming. Our longest and most involved dream tends to be the last dream of the night, from which we usually wake. This is the perfect time to record the dream, whilst it is still fresh, and you are still in that twilight world. Don’t move too quickly, as memory traces are not laid down for dreams in the same way as they are for waking events, and returning to the waking world too hurriedly will disperse the dream like mist in the sun.
Record the dream on paper in the present tense, or record your voice describing it. This last method is especially effective for middle of the night dream recall, and brings it home to you that you really do inhabit another world in sleep.
