Sample Tarot Reading

Below is an example of the Tarot readings I offer. The identity of the client and some of the details have been changed, but the reading is typical of the response you can expect to receive to your queries within hours of contacting me!

My client’s first reading was six months prior to this one, and concerned a work issue. This time, she wanted some insight into relationship difficulties, and she gave me the following information…

Name: Penny
DOB: 13th March 1970

Dear Jil,
I had a reading from you last Christmas when I was having an awful time at work. Your reading was really helpful to me, and although work is fine now, my love-life is causing some heartache. I ended my intense relationship with Sean, but I wonder if I have made a mistake. I want us to get back together, but I don’t know what he is feeling as when we broke up he asked me not to ring, although he was very upset at the time, can you help?
Penny

Dear Penny,
I’m so glad things at work are better for you now, and I’m sorry to hear of your difficulties over the relationship with Sean, I sincerely hope that I can help you to to come to terms with what has happened in your relationship with him. As before, I will use the most ancient and popular spread of the Celtic Cross to look into this situation for you. I will shuffle the deck whilst focussing upon the information that you have given me, and lay out the cards.
The first card is usually called the Significator, and represents the situation you are in at this present moment. In this position we have the two of Swords, and the suit of Swords is aligned to the element of air, and represents the power of the mind. The two reflects a state of impasse, and I feel that this is representing not only your relationship with Sean, but your own state of mind. It tells us that for the moment, this uncomfortable state of tension is unavoidable, and, just for a while longer, it must be endured. This card also speaks of issues other than your relationship, and the decision that you made. There are other forces at work here, Penny, both in your life and in Sean’s. You can take comfort here Penny, from the realisation that there are no mistakes in life, all events and decisions are just stepping stones on the way to your higher purpose. In the two of Swords there are two opposing forces, and the divide between them is not something that can be easily ignored. If you hadn’t taken the brave step of ending this relationship, then neither of you would have been able to change and grow and move forward with your lives in the ways that you both need to. This ending had a purpose, and it is time for you to stop carrying the heavy weight of responsibility for being the one to end it. All is as it was meant to be. This does not mean that you and Sean will not be able to have a relationship as friends or romantically in the future, just that the relationship as it was, needed to finish.

The card which crosses the Significator is the Eight of Wands, which indicates that one of the hidden reasons behind this split is that your focus needed to shift to other matters, which will be revealed by the rest of the spread, and to which we shall return later. I understand that this is very hard for you because of the intensity of your relationship, and that it opened you up to experiences you had never had before, but by its very intensity, this union was stifling your ability to participate fully in the rest of your life.

The four of Cups appears, as does the eight. The suit of Cups is aligned to the element of water, and represents emotions, and matters of the heart. This is a very revealing combination of cards and shows us all the nature of romantic relationships and where their magic lies. As you know, falling in love is a very intense experience, and is all-consuming, lifting us beyond the mundane business of our everyday lives. This state is comparable to a stunning sunset, however, because part of its beauty and magic lies in the fact that it is transitory. At some point after falling in love, we have to come to grips with the fact that it is a real person whom we are sharing a life, with all the practical and tedious issues that this brings. It means dropping the illusion of being ‘in love’, and embracing the challenge of getting to know someone else, whilst remaining in a state of love, which is non-judgemental and respectful.

The question of whether you and Sean will reconcile, and if you do, whether you can move on to this state of being, is one that can only be answered by the passage of time and the directions that you both move in from now. In order for you to settle into this new way of being, it is probably best that you and Sean are having no contact. The passage of time will ease the tension represented by the two of Swords, easing the fraught emotions around at the time of your separation. You will both have moved on a little way when you next meet, which would seem to be a positive thing for you.
The eight of Cups does reflect the painful state in which you find yourself at this moment. The best way forward now is acceptance that nothing further can be done for this situation, and to turn you loving attention to looking after yourself, nursing yourself through this difficult passage. Remember to lean on your friends and family as they have leant on you in the past, and remember that this painful time will pass.

This seemingly passive act of letting go is actually a very powerful way of bringing the next step in your destiny much closer. New dimensions are waiting to be discovered. This is what the eight of Wands we spoke about earlier, is showing you. The suit of Wands is aligned to the element of fire, and represents the creative imagination. This is the part of ourselves which holds the vision of what we desire in the future, and the eight indicates much available energy for moving forward on all levels. It is indicative of an increase in inner confidence, a realisation of your own strength and resources. The relationship to focus on is the one you have with yourself, accepting that you have greater potential than you may previously have given yourself credit for.

The page and the king of Pentacles also appear in the spread, which is an exciting combination for your work and home life. Pentacles are aligned with the element of Earth, and represent all things physical; health, home, career and money. The page is a representation of a very new idea, the very beginnings of something exciting. This career opportunity can relate to a hobby or interest of yours which can be developed into a money-making exercise, and has the potiential to be very successful. The king of Pentacles indicates that whether you branch out into new areas or remain in a longstanding role, you are assured much success, and everything you touch turns to gold!

The eight of Wands of which we spoke earlier, indicates a huge release of energy, like the stopper coming off a bottle of fizz! It heralds a very busy period, with much activity and acheivement. It can also mean an unexpected change of scenery, maybe travel overseas; a break from your usual environment. All of this is the natural outcome of what happened between you and Sean, and is part of why it happened. There is no need to struggle, or plan too much, just enjoy the journey and the experience of the new.

The appearance of the Major card of The Hanged Man reiterates the sacrifice that you have made, and indicates the inevitability of that sacrifice, and also reflects the courage you have shown in bringing this about. Maintain your courage, Penny, and know that if you and Sean are meant to be together in the future, that nothing will keep you apart. Your job now is to let go of wanting to affect this situation, and to trust that it will develop for the best on its own. Timing is everything, and you can trust your own instincts on this.

Just as you are dealing with the emergence of new opportunities and paths, so Sean has issues to deal with in his life, so focus your energies away from this relationship at the moment, and towards looking after yourself ready for your new opportunities.

I do understand the difficulty of focussing on the new as opposed to dwelling on the past, so I must remind you of the power of your mind. Everything started with a thought, and the thoughts that you choose to think affect your emotions directly. Your emotional vibration will always attract similar vibrations and situations, so that is the importance of thinking positively. Thankfully, we can only think one thought at a time, so make it a good one! The mind is a creature of habit, and may want to slip back into its habitual churnings, but you have the power to gently bring your thoughts back on track to focus on your goals.

I wish you all the very best, Penny, please don’t hesitate to email me on info@13thstar.co.uk if anything needs clarification.

I’m going to select an Angel card for you, to give you a single thought to focus on, and the card is Creativity.

Bright Blessings
