Tarot - A glimpse behind the veil
With whatever information you choose to give me, but especially using your name, date and time, if possible, of birth, I will tune in to your energies as I shuffle whichever deck feels appropriate to use.
Then I will lay out the cards.
I use a variety of spreads, depending upon the questions asked.
Here are some examples:
The Celtic cross
The most ancient and probably the most popular spread. Using this I can look deeply into a specific life situation.
In position one is the ‘Significator’ and it represents the enquirer. Character-type, major influences, or simply the main issue at the time can all be intuited from this card. Some readers select a card to represent the enquirer, if they know the person, or if they are reading for themselves.
In position two is the Crossing Card, and describes situation which is generating conflict, preventing the Significator from full expression.
Position three is above the first two, and is called the Crowning Card, it reflects the outer surface of life, and the pervading atmosphere.
Below these, position four is called the Base Card and represents the hidden drives behind the outer situation described by the Crowning Card.
Position five is Past Influences, and represents a pattern of behaviour, set of values or beliefs which is passing out of the enquirer’s life, making way for the new energies described in Forthcoming Influences, which is position six.
Position seven is Where one finds oneself, and is an extension of position one. This card hints at the qualities and values which need to be developed.
This is just a pattern, a framework to work with. It’s just something to kick-start the intuition really, like any other form of divination.
The Tarot is so ancient, and has been expressed in so many different and beautiful forms, by so many talented artists and mystics, that the selection and contemplation of just one card can tell the enquirer so much.
